MUST READ: OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER/ PARTNER WITH SLUM2SCHOOL AFRICA IN REACHING OUT TO DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN.

Slum2School Africa keeps blossoming with passionate and determined creative problem-solvers who want to make a sustainable impact in the society. In the midst of all our social challenges we believe that young people have a great voice and role to play in bringing about desired change. We believe that rather than just complain about problems, we can be part of the solution.
And to this end Slum2School Africa has launched another opportunity for Young, Passionate, Patriotic and Solution driven individuals who would love to be part of our great Volunteer network to apply. And also an opportunity for collaborations with organizations and individuals with a shared vision. Our aim is to create more awareness for this great cause and in the process give more young people the opportunity to volunteer.

UNESCO’s undeniable statistics exposes that 57 million children are still out of school globally. About half of these children live in Sub-Saharan Africa with about 10Million in Nigeria. It’s hard to imagine what 57 million children look like, but we choose to focus on changing these statistics gradually by building collaborative structures and empowering these disadvantaged children to realize their full potential. We believe that children deserve a chance to be educated and enlightened so their future and ours can be secured. We also believe that the best way to change lives is by acting.

The Slum2School Africa, a volunteer driven developmental organization was initiated to address this challenge by building collaborative structures with all educational/developmental stakeholders to organize awareness campaigns, providing educational scholarships and psychosocial support programs to disadvantage children, provide school and community support, build and manage low cost schools in slums and remote communities and finally work with government to develop policies to address the educational challenges.  Moreover our focus is to mobilize efforts of government, private sector, individuals and other development agencies towards building a collaborative and sustainable network to secure educational opportunities for children from disadvantaged families/communities and also build a network of socially responsible youths with a mindset of social development.

Since inception in 2012, Slum2School Africa has already won over 15 national and international awards for its innovativeness, community development, leadership, youth drive and social impact like, The Nigerian CSR Awards 2012, Two times winner of the Future Awards in Education 2012 and 2013, Lagos State Honours Award 2012, Young achievers Award by the Global Foundation, Nigerian Leadership Award by NLI, 2013 etc. We have already attracted over 1500 Volunteers from 10 countries who have actively contributed physically and virtually to the organizational impact and have also organized over 15 major support programs in slums and remote communities and provided educational scholarships and support to 650 disadvantaged children from various slums and remote communities like Emina, Saga island, Okuagbo and Makoko.

We are passionate about this and we thank every individual, organization and institution for believing in our vision. To Volunteer kindly visit www.slumtoschool.org/volunteer.php and visit our blog for updated information and spotlights on some of our Amazing volunteers.
