Six Killed, Community Sacked as Plateau Boils Again

Governor Jonah Jang
The peace tentatively enjoyed by Plateau people in the last couple of weeks may have been cut short by the brutal murder of at least six persons in Gwande village of Manguna district of Bokkos Local Government Area, of Plateau State by unknown gunmen in a gale of attacks, forcing the residents of the area to flee their homes to safety.
This may have stunted the peace efforts being made by the state government towards resolving the protracted crisis between the Fulani herdsmen and their host communities in the state.

Prayer Warrior GEJ Says Air Mishaps Shall Never Be Our Portion Again

President Goodluck Jonathan
Don't get me wrong, I believe in the efficacy of prayers but the Bible does say that faith (prayer as I dare add) without works is dead. So while our President is believing God through prayers that Nigeria will never witness such disaster like the Dana Air June 3 crash, I believe that it goes beyond that. We need to put our hands to the plough where our mouth is. So if GEJ says so, I hope he backs it with action by strengthening and sanitizing the aviation sector. Anyway, here is exactly what he said today in commemoration of those 153 passengers whose lives were snuffed out by the crash;
President Goodluck Jonathan has vowed that the nation will never again witness the kind of air mishap that claimed 153 lives in the ill-fated Dana Flight 992 crash a year ago.
President Jonathan, who gave the assurance Monday, reiterated that such sad incident will never happen again, pledging that the Federal government will do every thing to mitigate any such disaster in the future.
Dana Airline's flight 992 crashed in a suburb of Agege in Lagos on 3rd June last year few minutes before landing at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport,  killing all on board.

Emmy Collins Takes a Swipe at Linda Ikeji's Fashion Sense

Linda Ikeji at Tiwa's Album listening party
So Emmy Collins recently took a swipe at Blog Queen Linda Ikeji's fashion sense. I personally don't know what's wrong with the outfit but for Emmy, It's certainly a no-no. So what do you guys think about her outfit on a scale 0-10? But before that, here is what Emmy Collins said;
"OK, why is Linda on the ABSOLUTE style disasters list? Her outfit is just there and nothing worth commenting about so she is not here on the account of her ensembles. She is here because her entire personality which of course is the best accessory an individual could wear is as fake as a three dollar billand consequently that has a VERY negative effect on whatever she wears. Even the smile as evident in this picture is fake too. The hair is also too long. Linda, keep it real, be yourself and we will score you accordingly. STAY ON YOUR LANE,sweetheart. She gets a 2 out 10 and that is me being magnanimous because I woke up on the right side this morning but not based on her outfit which as I
said is just,ok." Is he right?

What’s new about Empress Njamah?
I have House of Empress Boutique based in Abuja. I have a spa. I have a saloon. And I’ve been working on so many things; especially my brands and I embark on loads and loads of traveling too. My free times I do one or three movies and I’m working on two more. They keep shifting, shifting because my movement no dey pure (laughs). My Boutique is it is standing firm in Abuja with
branches here and there. Lagos is clustered for me but it’s not an excuse. I’m still working on Lagos. I still need a lot of people to psyche me on that because is one place is that I want to do this thing but there are loads of competition in Lagos. And then a lot of people don’t want to do their stuff but when they see you doing well with your stuff they want to get into your stuff. So I’m actually taking my time. But I have loads of customers in Lagos that I bring stuffs for more than every other place. But basically I love Abuja right now.

IJEOMA NWOGWUGWU: NGF-Victory for Nigerians

BEHIND THE FIGURES by Ijeoma Nwogwugwu

The Nigerian Governors’ Forum, which in reality was an exclusive “Boys Club” of 36 over-fed, ego-driven men, has finally self-imploded. One or two governors who foresaw the train-wreck in the horizon counselled against the chairmanship and vice-chairmanship election that took place penultimate Friday. Irrespective of the constitution of the NGF, their preference was for a consensus arrangement that would throw up a chairman and a deputy, which they said would have shielded the forum from the emergence of a splinter group.

They hinged their argument on precedents. Past chairmen of the forum, they contended, had always emerged through a gentlemen’s agreement. With the governors divided into two camps, this was the worst possible time, they advised, to hold an election, be it via a secret or open ballot, as it would split the NGF down the middle.

Jose Mourinho
It's official: Jose Mourinho is headed back to Chelsea. The news comes via Chelsea's team website: 'Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Jose Mourinho as First Team Manager.' Mourinho has signed a four-year contract and will return to the club where he won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups between 2004 and 2007.
The move has been speculated for a while, but now it's a done deal, reports Sky Sports. Chelsea will be hoping that the veteran manager can bring some stability, which hasn't been seen at Stamford Bridge since Mourinho himself left Chelsea unexpectedly in 2007.

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari
Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) National Leader, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has criticised the declaration of state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States and the subsequent military offensive against the Boko Haram Islamic sect.
Buhari, who featured on the “Guest of the Week,” a Hausa programme of the Kaduna-based Liberty Radio, yesterday said the federal government’s action was a gross injustice against the north. According to him, unlike the special treatment the federal government gave to the Niger Delta militants, the Boko Haram members were being killed and their houses demolished.

Navy: Fishing Trawlers Now Converted to Tankers for Oil Theft

CRUDE-OIL-THEFT.jpg - CRUDE-OIL-THEFT.jpg

The Nigerian Navy has exposed how unscrupulous Nigerians and their foreign collaborators are now converting fishing trawlers into oil tankers for illegal bunkering in the Niger Delta region. The converted ships, according to the Navy, now venture into the creeks and rivers in the Niger Delta disguised as fishing trawlers to lift stolen crude oil.  But naval patrol team on routine patrol that intercepted such trawlers find stolen crude instead of fish in all the vessels captured. Parading the crew of one of such vessels in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, the navy raised the alarm that the activity was on the rise in the region.

Bunmi Awoyemi: The Many Lies of Dana Air

Scene of Dana Air Crash
In conjunction with our partners in the United States, we have filed a mass tort law suit against the parties responsible for the crash. Dana Air and its insurers, Prestige Assurance PLC and Lloyds of London have retained the law firm of Yomi Osikoya & Co. to help them process claims and interim compensation to victims of the Dana crash.
You will recall from our past press conferences that we highlighted the enabling law, which is the pivot upon which our letter to the Senate committee and House committee on aviation rests. Section 48 (3) of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Act provides: “In any case of aircraft accident resulting in death or injury of passengers, the carrier shall make advance payments of at least US $30,000 (Thirty Thousand United States Dollars) within 30 (thirty) days from the date of such accident, to the natural person or such natural persons who are entitled to claim compensation in order to meet the immediate economic needs of such persons and such advance payments shall not constitute recognition of liability and may be offset against any amounts subsequently paid as damages by the carrier.”

Scene of the Dana crash
For one whole year, they have struggled in vain. Families and friends of the departed in the ill-fated Dana flight 992 that crashed into the densely populated Iju-Ishaga neighbourhood of Lagos State have continued to cry out. In this incisive report, Godwin Haruna, Chinedu Eze and Chiemelie Ezeobi write about the agonies of families who lost loved ones and property to the June 3, 2012 Dana air crash
Those who lost loved ones and valuable property to the Dana air crash of Sunday, June 3, 2012 have spent the last twelve months agonising and today they will remember again the sad memories of how their loved ones died in the ill-fated aircraft. But such memories will be more bitter this year as the compensation due to many of them have been denied them.
