Scores Killed in Fulani/Farmers Clash in Benue

Scores of lives, including those of women and children as well property worth millions of naira were lost to a Fulani-farmers clash in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, the Governor, Gabriel Suswam disclosed Wednesday
Suswam, who was at the State House, Abuja to brief Vice President, Muhammad Namadi Sambo on the incident and other security challenges in his state and in neighbouring Nassarawa,  explained that the Fulani herdsmen overran Agatu Local Government, one of the local governments the Senate President, David Mark is representing.

Sir Alex Ferguson will step down as Manchester United manager at the end of the season after 26 years in charge. The Scot, 71, has won 38 trophies since taking over from Ron Atkinson on 6 November 1986, including this season's Premier League title. 
His haul includes 13 titles, two Champions League crowns, five FA Cups and four League Cups. "The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about. It is the right time," Ferguson said. It was important to me to leave an organisation in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so.

NPS: 69 Infants, 847 Juveniles In Nigerian Prisons

The Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) has disclosed that about 69 babies are currently locked up with their mothers in the 234 Prisons across the nation, while 847 Juveniles were also said to be enclosed in three Borstal Training Institutions located in Kaduna, Abeokuta and Ilorin.
The Controller General of Prisons, Mr. Zakari Ibrahim stated this Wednesday in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, NPS, Kayode Odeyemi debunking the allegation that there were 6,000 children in the Prisons and that N7 billon Prison Medical and Health personnel allowances were diverted.

Ekiti Gets New Deputy Governor, Prof. Adelabu


Professor (Mrs) Modupe Adeola Adelabu was sworn in today as
the new Deputy Governor of Ekiti state. The mother of four children
and five grandchildren, was born in 1950 and is the former Chairperson
of the State Universal Basic Educational Board(SUBEB) Ekiti State.
 She was the Head, Department of Educational Administration and
Planning, Faculty of Education, Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU,
Ile-Ife, Osun State.

55 Killed as Boko Haram Sacks Bama in Borno State

The ancient city of Bama in Borno State has been turned into a ghost town following daring multiple attacks on police, military and prison installations in the town in the wee hours of Tuesday  by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect.

The attack, which led to the death of at least 55 people, forced residents of Bama to either flee the town or lock up their homes and businesses for fear of their lives.


EXCLUSIVE: Navy Arrests Four Illegal Benninois for Bunkering

The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft of the Western Naval Command (WNC), Apapa, yesterday handed over four illegal Benninois to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) after they were arrested for illegal bunkering.

The suspects were arrested around SBN, along Atlas Cove, an area known for illegalities including bunkering of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline in that axis, with jerrycans loaded with petroleum products.

NEMA Rescues Four as Another Building Collapse in Lagos

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), yesterday rescued four persons including two young boys, from different collapsed buildings across Lagos.

While a woman and a man were rescued under the rubbles of the three-storey building of a church that collapsed on Tuesday at Ojodu-Berger, the teenagers were rescued from yet another building that collapsed yesterday in Ikorodu. Another building also collapsed in Bariga too.
