Only 34 Lions left in Nigeria

30 years ago, there were 200,000 lions roaming wild across the African continent but now there are only between 15,000 and 32,000 left. Of the lions left, it is a estimated that there are just 645 genetically distinct wild lions left in western and central Africa with “only 34 left in Nigeria“. That is most recent report from leading charity to protect and conserve endangered lions worldwide, LionAid as reported in the UK Daily Mail.

Power outage disrupts surgeries, blood bank, others at Lagos University Hospital


The power outage causes delay even in treatment of critical ailment

Activities at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi-Araba, Lagos, have been disrupted for two days due to power outage. Visits to the hospital on Tuesday and Wednesday show that many health personnel were unable to carry out their duties including medical tests.
There was slight improvement on Wednesday as the hospital management was forced to use its backup generating set to power some essential sections.

NPA MD ORDERS FULL INVESTIGATION INTO BLAST AT MRS JETTY

The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, Mallam Habib Abdullahi has ordered for full investigations into the blast which occurred at the MRS Jetty, at the Tin Can Island Port.
In a statement  issued by the  Public Affairs Department  of the authority, the Managing Director gave this instruction while visiting the scene of the blast which occurred Wednesday morning.

Pirates Free Italian Sailors in Nigeria

Pirates have freed three Italians kidnapped off the coast of Nigeria last month, says Italy's foreign ministry.
Gunmen stormed the MV Asso Ventuno some 40 nautical miles (74km) off Bayelsa State in the oil-producing Niger Delta region on December 23, reports the BBC.
The ministry gave no details of a fourth sailor, thought to be Ukrainian, who was kidnapped with the Italians.
