The Pension Reform Task Team has revealed that a total of N3.3 trillion had been deducted from the Local Government pension funds without proper accountability from 1976 to date.
A member of the team who was also a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ngozika Ihuoma, said this during a visit to the headquarters of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) weekend in Abuja.

A clear message was at the weekend sent to those who think that the activities of terrorists are capable of affecting the cohesion and unity of the nation, that the country will remain intact despite the challenges.
The Director General of the State Security Service (SSS), Mr. Ekpeyong Ita, gave the assurance while addressing members of Course No. 5 of the Institute for Security Studies in Abuja.
Ita told the graduands that the institute was set up to be a centre of academic excellence committed to expanding the professional horizon of the members of the intelligence services.

Pandemonium erupted today at the Alakuko area of Lagos State, following the alleged killing of one commercial motorcyclist, and the purported injury of another by policemen.
Popularly known as Okada rider, the deceased simply identified as Alagede, was allegedly shot dead by a yet-to-be identified police officer purportedly attached to Alakuko Police Station, Area G, Ogba Command.

The Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), has intensified calls to reposition the Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry to boost the cashless economy scheme.
Making the disclosure at its 2012 Fellows Conference, NSChE National President, Dr. John Erinne, said the topic was germane in light of the recent cashless economy scheme the nation wants to adopt.

When she arrived in Nigeria 60 years ago, the late Mrs Sheila Solarin was eager to start a new life away from the western life she had known before that time. She was convinced about many things, but she stuck to social justice. Her husband, the late Dr. Taiwo Solarin, whom she met at the University of Manchester, was spending more and more time at meetings of social crusaders and that instantly emboldened her resolve to tread the path of social justice.
Sheila arrived in Nigeria in 1952 and married the late Solarin at the age of 27 years, a marriage that lasted for 43 years before death separated them.

Despite of the fact that the police have released the Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas, Ifeanyi Uba, from the custody of the Special Fraud Unit, (SFU), a Federal High Court in Lagos Monday struck out his bail application.
Uba and four others were arrested in connection with fuel subsidy fraud.
He was detained for over 10 days pending the conclusion of investigations on the case.
